Peghead Shapes

Most have been the standard double cut and fiddle cut for the resonator banjos. The mountain banjos have a smaller peghead of a double round. However, depending on your desire, this is one area we can play with. Bob Rock made a line called “Big Chief” with the peghead in the shape of an Indian chief in full headdress.

For the most part, if we lay out the tuner location and pencil in the strings to miss the lower tuners and flow into the nut well, we can manipulate the balance of the shape. Paintings and inlay designs may also steer the shape.
