The Banjo Making Process

DD banjos are built one at a time and the building process is somewhat different for each style. Here we’ll look at the basic steps for a resonator banjo to touch on the key building elements. To add efficiency to the process, there are often necks of different wood species roughed out in anticipation of orders. I will do several fingerboards while the machines are set up to slot the frets.  This allows for a quicker start on building while waiting for the specific hardware for a banjo to be acquired.
