Mountain

Some folks may not feel that mountain banjos are real banjos, however as one researches USA banjo history, you will quickly see that many were made out of what was available to the common folk. Hat boxes, cigar boxes, oil cans, cookie tins, pots and pans, hubcaps, and headlight buckets to name a few. They are pretty fun to make and I have a system to router the tops and bottoms, while I’ve added the “Shaker lap joint” to the band.  Different heads can be swapped out and most are made of several different woods for variety.
